2 and 3 year olds

To get started: few options, big pictures and the teacher’s voice.

  • 1

    Flashlight in the dark

Night has fallen in the backlands! Drag your finger to move the flashlight. When the animal shows up in the light, tap it.

  • 2

    Fireflies

The backlands fireflies are hiding! Search with the flashlight and count how many you've found. Be careful not to tap anything that isn't a firefly.

  • 3

    Shapes in the dark

In the dark you can't see colors or shapes. Light up each one with the flashlight, look closely and only tap the one the teacher asked for.

4 and 5 year olds

More pieces that look alike, asking for attention and memory.

  • 4

    Road to the market

The donkey is taking its load to the market! Roll the die, count the dots and move that many spaces on the trail.

  • 5

    Xylophone

There's a xylophone at the backlands dance! The long bar makes a low sound and the short one makes a high sound. Listen, watch the bars light up and play it the same way.

5 and 6 year olds

Bigger challenges and the party that reviews everything the child learned.

    Numbered trail

Now every space has a number. Look where the donkey is, roll the die and count forward from there.

  • 7

    Surprise space

The backlands trail has surprise spaces! The green one says move ahead a bit more and the red one says go back. It only counts if the donkey lands right on it.

  • 8

    Word search

The donkey found a bunch of mixed-up letters! A word is hiding in the middle of them. Look for the first letter and find the others right next to it.

  • 9

    Standing words

Some words stand up tall, like the cactus! The first letter is at the top and the others go down, one under the other.

  • 10

    By ear

The backlands musicians play by ear! The bars won't light up: listen to whether the tune goes up to the high sounds or down to the low sounds.

  • 11

    Backward

The donkey likes to play things backward! Listen to the tune and play it starting with the last bar that lit up, all the way to the first.

    Backlands party

    Region party

There's a dance in the backlands! The donkey decorated everything with flowery cloth and invited the fireflies to light up the party. Let's remember what you learned with it.
