To get started: few options, big pictures and the teacher’s voice.
More pieces that look alike, asking for attention and memory.
The pots of Marajó Island, made by the peoples who lived there long ago, have bands with designs that repeat. Look at the band and fill in the empty spaces.
On the wheel, the potter stretches the clay up and out. Drag the yellow dots on your pot until it's the same size as the model.
Now let's shape animals! Each part of the animal is a shape: a ball, a snake, a pancake or a drop. Look closely at the model before you choose.
Your pot starts out just like the model. Listen to what the teacher asks for, taller, shorter, wider or thinner, and change your pot.
Bigger challenges and the party that reviews everything the child learned.
In this band the designs turn! The triangle points up, then down... Choose the design, tap Turn until it matches and put it in the empty space.
In the studio the pieces come in two sizes: big and small. Choose the right shape, color and size for each part of the model.
Marajoara pots have different heights, mouths, bellies and bases. Copy the model carefully: three or four measurements at once!
The prettiest bands have three or four designs that repeat, some of them turned. Find the part that repeats and continue.
On the shelf, the pots go from smallest to biggest. Make the middle pot: bigger than pot number one and smaller than pot number two. Sometimes it just matches one of them!
The designs disappeared from lots of parts of the band, even at the start! Look at the neighbors of each empty space to figure out the design and how it's turned.
